AFTERCARE GUIDE

Now you’ve got your fabulous hair extensions, how do you look after them to keep them in top condition?

Correct aftercare is essential to maintain the quality of your hair extensions and to help prolong their life. It is important to not only follow the correct advice, but to also use the correct and recommended products. Failure to follow correct aftercare advice could cause damage to the hair extensions and decrease their lifespan.

THIS IS YOUR NEW RELIGION

01

DETANGLE

Detangle your hair extensions before washing, this will avoid hair becoming tangled and lift away dirt. Do this before beginning to wash in order to give hair a thorough cleanse. We recommend the Aventii mixed bristle extension brush to detangle and reduce damage.

02

WASH, RINSE, REPEAT

Select a haircare routine that’s suited for your hair extensions and hair type. As  we are still working hard I'm perfecting our own products before launching. We currently recommend pureology or whatever your aventii approved stylist recomends.

03

HYDRATE

Hydrate hair by using hair oils & masks. Styling, colouring and being blasted by the elements can all make a dent on the health of our strands. When hair or hair extensions start to feel frizzy, dull, and dry, coat hair in the mask and comb through from root to ends. Preform weekly to keep hair in best condition.

04

HEAT PROTECTION

Extensions are costly, to protect your investment and extend the lifespan on your new hair we always recommend using heat protection from blow, dry and heated styling tools. We love the Kerastase thermiques.

HAIR DETOX

If your hair feels heavy and wont style, you may need to wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove stubborn dirt or product build up. Clarifying is a great way to detox your hair from hard water minerals to pollutants and styling product residue, all of which leave hair dull and lifeless that wont style hair extensions.

Try Malibu Cleansing Sachets

06

BRUSH CORRECTLY

The correct brush will not only keep your hair from unnecessary breakage & needing replaced more frequently, but it will also help to keep your natural hair in optimum condition too. Pulling at the root of your extensions with the incorrect brush can tug your extensions out, resulting in hair loss, thinning and damage to the root. Our mixed bristle brushes are specifically designed for hair extensions in mind and glides over strands safety.

07

HOT STUFF

Minimize heat damage by using the right hair styling products and turn down the heat on your styling tools to avoid hair from burning or discolouring.

08

SHINEY HAPPY HAIR

Hair extensions aren’t attached to the scalp, therefore the natural serum that normally comes from our hair needs replacing. Invest in a good hair oil with deep nourishing properties, that will leave hair looking healthy and glossy.

We Love Shu Uemura

09

HOLIDAY PREP

During the summer months or hotter climates are hair needs extra TLC. UVA rays can fade your colour and UVB leads to breakage. Prolonged sun exposure degrades the protein structure of hair, often resulting in elasticity, breakage, split ends and lack of shine. Whilst UV rays often strips the colour of hair extensions, causing them to fade and even turn pink in tone.

SLEEPING

Always avoid going to sleep with wet hair and make sure your extensions are completely dry to avoid any potential problems occurring. We recommend putting your hair into a loose ponytail or plait before bed which helps to prevent the hair from tangling or matting. And we are big fans of a silk pillowcase.
